NEW WORKSHOPS!
Many of you have asked for multi-day classes. I am currently offering 3 multi-day classes. The locations and dates will be selected and published as the workshops are set up. I must have a minimum of 6 participants in order to conduct one of these workshops. The maximum number of participants is 10 - 12 depending on location.
Exploring Landscape - A 3 Day Workshop
After a discussion of color in landscape, seasonal palettes and fabric textures, students will select a pattern from the 3 provided. The Vermont Window pattern will be one of the patterns. Each student will create a template from the pattern and prepare it for sewing. We will work through your fabric choices before you begin sewing. This process oriented workshop builds piecing skills and is a friendly introduction to landscape. Paper piecing experience would be helpful, but isn't necessary. Exploring Landscape is an intermediate level workshop. You must be comfortable working on your machine. Limit 10 participants. $250.00 Students are responsible for their own accommodations and meals.
Landscape Studio - A 5 Day Workshop
The object of this workshop is to use the fiber medium to present the natural world realistically. Many basics will be covered in the course of the workshop. Students will be encouraged to expand their "toolbox" as well as to find their "artistic voice". After a brief introduction to the class (examples of fiber based landscape, and a discussion of landscape colors, fabrics and textures), students will begin to transform their original photos or artwork into a pattern and template. Students progress at their own pace. Fabric choices and working methods will be discussed one on one as needed. Piecing and construction sequences will be worked out with each student. This is a highly individualized process oriented workshop with lots of one on one. The Landscape Studio is an intermediate to advanced level workshop. Limit 10 participants. $400.00 Students are responsible for their own accommodations and meals.
From Landscape to Threadscape - 2 day workshop
Have you been experimenting with the basics of Threadpainting, but aren't sure how to apply it to your quilts? This workshop may be just what you're looking for. After a brief trunk show of threadpainted landscapes we will review the basics. The review will be just that, short and sweet as our main goal is to give you the inspiration and courage to tackle your own work. Students will bring a completed (or nearly complete) top to the workshop. You should have some ideas about where you want to go with it, what you want to emphasize, where the texture should be enhanced...etc. Plenty of group discussion and individual consultation. Innovation will be encouraged. Limit 10 participants. $175.00 Students are responsible for their own accommodations and meals.
Lodging information may be found on the Registration page.

Color Confidence
An opportunity to become acquainted with the color wheel and explore how colors work together. Several quilts and photos will be used as concrete examples of color groupings. We will experiment with different color combinations. Each student will receive a handout detailing different color families. After an explanation of the different color groups, work with the color wheel and group discussion or questions and answers we will move on to the class project , a 24" x 24" under sea wallhanging. You may choose to piece or fuse your project. Piecing and fusing can also be used in combination. Students will create 5 species of fish (ideas provided) or piece together 5 six and a half inch fish blocks (block design provided) and place the fish on a watery background. Each fish or species of fish represents a different color family. The wallhanging can be enhanced with the addition of vegetation and coral. Decorative stitching or threadpainting, different kinds of embellishment - especially beading and quilting make this wallhanging a great piece for a child's room, a family room or a fish lover's home. A stash buster class! Don't be afraid to bring some of those fabrics that you can't seem to use.

Learn how to piece using freezer paper templates. All Levels
Get a jump start on a beautiful floral wallhanging with this one day piecing class. Learn how to sew curves fearlessly! A great confidence builder for those more difficult piecing projects. The wallhanging goes together easily in 3 different sections. Lots of one on one! The finished piece measures 34" wide x 28" high. $8.00 pattern fee.
The intermediate to advanced piece ("On The Fence" - 15"wide x 26"high) is a group of 5 morning glories on a picket fence. The 5 sections of smaller pieces with tighter curves will prepare you to piece anything that comes your way! This piece can be interpreted successfully in batiks, oriental fabrics and color families. $8.00 pattern fee.
This is a process oriented workshop. Students will move at their own pace. We will discuss finishing options for each participant. Both wallhangings lend themselves to threadpainting and embelliishment. More info…
